Highways England is carrying out essential safety work on Cornwall's A30 between Chiverton and Carland Cross.

Drivers are advised to plan their journeys ahead of the annual maintenance work taking place between the two roundabouts.

Both eastbound and westbound carriageways will be closed overnight along the nine-mile section, 8pm to 6am, from Monday 9th November to Saturday 14th November.

The routine maintenance work involves areas of resurfacing, signage refurbishment, road stud and road marking replacement and verge and drainage clearance, while preparatory vegetation clearance for the A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross dualling scheme will also be carried out during the overnight closures, together with Virgin Media cabling work and Cornwall Council litter clearance.

“We appreciate the closure will have an effect on journey times, and we thank all drivers in advance for their co-operation and patience. We’re incorporating other work within the annual maintenance schedule and carrying out this essential work overnight to minimise disruption.”

Highways England Service Manager, Emma Bazeley

Eastbound traffic will be diverted from the Chiverton Cross roundabout via the A3075 and A3058 to rejoin the A30 at Summercourt, while westbound traffic will be diverted in reverse.

Drivers will still be able to continue southbound to the A39 from the Carland roundabout, and A30 access will be maintained for those residents living alongside the road between Carland and Chiverton.
