90-year-old woman dies following crash in north Cornwall village

Police have confirmed that an elderly woman has died following a crash in a north Cornwall village.

The collision in Kilkhampton, not far from Bude, last Thursday afternoon involved a car and a pedestrian.

90-year-old Mary Kitchingham was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries where sadly she later died.

A forensic examination of the scene was carried out and officers are still trying to work out what happened.

Anyone who saw what happened on West Street, The Square, is asked to contact police.

A Devon & Cornwall Police spokesperson said: "A 90-year-old woman has died following a collision in Kilkhampton on Thursday 3rd February.

"Officers were called to reports of a collision involving an elderly female pedestrian and a car at around 12.35pm on West Street, The Square, Kilkhampton.

"Mary Kitchingham was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries where she later died. Her family have been informed.

"A full forensic investigation was carried out and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision."

Officers would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, has any information or dashcam footage that could help the police with their enquiries.
