Elderly pedestrian suffers serious injuries after collision in north Cornwall village

Police have confirmed an elderly woman has suffered serious injuries after a collision with a car in a north Cornwall village.

The pedestrian was airlifted to hospital after the incident in Kilkhampton.

An appeal has been issued after it happened in The Square on Thursday lunchtime.

Witnesses who were in the West Street area shortly after 12.30pm are being urged to contact police via 101.

Devon & Cornwall Police are trying to establish what caused the collision, after forensics and the Specialist Roads Policing Team carried out an investigation at the scene.

In a statement, the force said: "At 1234hrs on Thursday 3rd February 2022, police were called to a report of a road traffic collision involving a car and a pedestrian in West Street, The Square, Kilkhampton.

"As a result of the collision, an elderly female pedestrian has suffered serious injuries.

"The scene was attended by officers from the Specialist Roads Policing Team, as well as a forensic collision investigator.

"A full forensic investigation of the scene has taken place and officers are working to establish the cause of this collision.

"Police would like to thank the public for their patience and support while they investigated the scene.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision to telephone 101 quoting Log 344 of 3rd February 2022".
