Crews say Camborne fire caused by e-cigarette left charging on bed

Cornwall Fire & Rescue say a fire at a house near Camborne was caused by an e-cigarette.

Crews were called to Pendrea Park, North Roskear on Thursday evening, to find a device had been left charging on a bed.

Luckily, everyone has made it out of the two-storey property safely.

Teams wearing specialist breathing equipment used a hose reel and safety jet to put out the blaze, after isolating gas and electric.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two appliances from Tolvaddon were mobilised to a property reported as on fire.

"All occupants of the property were out on crews arrival.

"The property consisted of two floors measuring 6 x 6 metres.

"Firefighters entered the building wearing two breathing apparatus under rapid deployment, this was later upgraded to Breathing Apparatus Stage 1.

"One hose reel, one safety jet and a thermal imaging camera was used to extinguish the fire.

"Gas and electric was isolated to the fire.

"Firefighters confirmed that the fire had been caused by an e-cigarette which had been left on a bed whilst charging".
