There'll be closures of the A30 and A390 this month

National Highways is advising drivers to plan their journeys ahead of further weekend closures in Cornwall this month.
As part of the company's A30 Chiverton to Carland Cross road upgrade, work will be taking place under a weekend closure of the A30, from 8.00pm to 6.00am, on Friday 9 February to Monday 12 February.
This will be followed by a weekend closure of the northern section of the A390 near Truro from Friday 16 February to Monday 19 February.
Work this coming weekend will involve drainage, central reservation work, barrier construction, structural construction across various locations of the scheme, and a traffic switch at Trevalso, where motorists will transfer on to a section of the new dual carriageway.
To enable the work, the A30 will be closed between Boxheater and Scorrier with westbound traffic diverted via the B3285, A3075 and B3277, and eastbound traffic in reverse, with HGVs advised to utilise the A383, A390 and A39 due to a low bridge, as per the diagram here:
Resurfacing work will also be carried out on the Chiverton interchange the following weekend.
The A30 will remain open in both directions between Carland and Scorrier but drivers are advised that the northern end of the A390 will be closed for the weekend, between the Chiverton interchange and Penstraze Lane, from 7.00pm on the Friday until 6.00am on the Monday.
The diversion route for access will be via the A390, A39, A393 and the A3047, as per the diagram below, and people travelling to Truro or the Royal Cornwall Hospital from the east should take the A39 at Carland Cross:
Neil Winter, National Highways’ Senior Project Manager for the A30 scheme, said: "It’s a busy month, we have a number of weekend and overnight closures planned in the coming weeks, and these are being communicated as we move towards opening the new dual carriageway later this year.
"We appreciate the closures will have an impact on people’s journeys, but after this latest phase of work, motorists will only see a slight difference at Trevalso.
"We advise people to plan ahead, follow the diversion routes and not use local roads, and allow a little extra time for their journeys, and in the meantime we thank people for their patience as we move towards completing this massive road upgrade for Cornwall."
The new A30 dual carriageway is scheduled to be opened at the end of this winter.
