Driver dies after serious crash in north Cornwall

Three vehicles collided near Launceston, closing the A395 for over six hours

Police have confirmed a multi-vehicle crash on a main road in north Cornwall was fatal.

A driver died after three vehicles collided at Laneast near Launceston.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene on Saturday afternoon but, tragically, the casualty was pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident happened outside Moorview Garage just before 4pm, closing the A395 for over six hours.

Anyone who saw what happened or who has dashcam footage is being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

In a statement the force said: “Shortly before 4PM on Saturday 18th September 2021, Devon and Cornwall Police received a report of a road traffic collision that occurred on the A395 outside Moorview Garage, Laneast, Launceston.

“The collision involved a black Toyota, a silver Mercedes and a black Ford.

“As a result of the collision the driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Local officers as well as officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the scene and once a forensic examination of the scene was completed the road was re-opened as soon as was possible.

“Anyone who witnessed the collision or has information regarding it – in particular any dashcam footage - is asked to contact Devon and Cornwall Police on 101, quoting log number 646 of the 18th September 2021.

“Police would like to thank the public for their patience whilst we dealt with the collision”.
