Police have confirmed a driver who died after a serious crash in a Cornish harbour town was in his 90s.

Officers say the man's vehicle was the only one involved at Fowey on Monday afternoon.

He was rushed to hospital but, tragically, later passed away from his injuries.

Paramedics and Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service also rushed to Lostwithiel Street.

Devon and Cornwall Police want to hear from anyone who saw what happened shortly before 3.20pm or anyone with dashcam footage.

The force said: "Police are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage after a man died following a single-vehicle collision in Fowey.

"Emergency services were called to Lostwithiel Street at around 3.20pm on Monday 14 March.

"Officers, paramedics and the fire service attended the scene.

"The driver of the vehicle, aged in his 90s, sustained serious injuries. He later died in hospital.

"Officers from the force’s Roads Policing Team attended the location and conducted an examination of the scene.

"Police would like to thank the public for their patience and consideration while the road was closed.

"Anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have relevant dashcam footage, is asked to call 101, or email 101@dc.police.uk, quoting log 0457 of 14/03/22".
