A dozen fire crews attended a blaze at a takeaway in Pool on New Year's Eve.

Fore Street was closed while it was brought under control overnight.

Elsewhere in the Duchy, the roof of a property in St Austell was severely damaged after a fire broke out on New Year's Day.

Seven crews attended the scene alongside Police and Western Power.

"At 1146 Critical Control Received multiple calls stating a residential property was on fire in the St Austell Area. Appliances from St Austell, Bodmin & Fowey were mobilised along with a flexi duty officer.

"On arrival the first message was smoke and flames issuing and requesting additional appliances. Additional resources and specialist appliances from Mevagissey, Truro, Wadebridge & Falmouth were assigned to the incident.

"Multiple Breathing Apparatus sets, Main Jets, Hose reel jets and 135 ladders were used to extinguish the fire. Western Power and Devon & Cornwall Police also attended."
