Domestic abuse charity urges victims to reach out for support over festive period
West Cornwall Women's Aid says help is always available for those who need it.
People in Cornwall are being urged to seek support if they’re experiencing domestic abuse over the festive period.
West Cornwall Women’s Aid says help is available, even during the holidays, and no one should feel alone.
It's encouraging anyone worried about their safety, or the safety of someone they know, to seek advice and support.
Jane Pugh is from the charity. She said: "Tell someone. Don't blame yourself. Don't sit in silence. You didn't ask for this to happen to you. Reach out without shame and tell someone.
"Everybody is entitled to a fulfilled life. To be safely with their children, to earn their own money, to go about their lives peacefully.
"Now is the time to recognise this as a problem and start actioning on the solutions."
She's urging anyone who may be suffering to speak to report what's happening.
She said: "Report it. If it's reported - it's logged. There's an accountability there. It means the agencies involved know what's going and know how to proceed."
