The owner of a dog which was killed in a hit-and-run in Redruth says he was "the most goofiest, sweetest most playful dog",

Devon and Cornwall Police are investigating reports that Turk was hit by a silver car which was driving fast along Church Road in the town at around 8.30am on Wednesday 30th December.

It has been reported by Turk's owner, Rosie Reeve, that the 16 month-old fox red Labrador was hit on the road outside her parent's house by a silver estate car.

Rosie says Turk was hit and dragged underneath the car for around 100 metres until he eventually came off in the middle of the road.

Both the Police and Rosie say the car failed to stop.

Despite the best efforts of vets who attended to Turk, he could not be saved and died from his injuries.

"At just after 8.40am our gorgeous, funny, sweet Turk was hit by a speeding silver estate car on the road outside my parent's house. The driver did not slow down or stop.

"Turk was hit and dragged underneath the car for around 100 metres until he eventually came off in the middle of the road. The vets were incredible and spent a long time trying to save him.

"To our absolute heartbreak and devastation, lovely 16-month-old Turk lost his life today - his injuries were just too much.

"A bus travelling in the other direction stopped shortly after to help. The bus company are currently searching their camera footage to find the number plate of the car in question, which hopefully passed the bus on the same road.

"As you can imagine, amongst the shock and trauma of the incident, the make or reg of the car wasn't noted."

She's now looking for justice for Turk and has set up a Facebook page in a bid to catch the person who hit him. In a tribute to Turk on social media, Rosie said:

"Turk always will be a member of our family and was such a good boy. He absolutely deserved to live many more years with us.

"Now we cry for the wonderful dog we've lost but hopefully, in time, we will smile and feel grateful for the pure joy and unconditional love that he brought us in his short life.

"See you over the rainbow bridge gorgeous boy."
