Former council leader demands fairer government funding for Cornwall after elections
The Conservatives have won control of Cornwall Council, with a majority of 47 seats

The former leader of Cornwall Council is calling for fairer funding from the government after the local elections.
The Duchy has turned blue, after the Conservatives won a majority of 47 seats.
It will be the first time that a single party has taken control since the council became a unitary authority in 2009.
The Lib Dems secured just 13 seats while five Labour councillors were elected, up from four.
Former council leader and Indpendent councillor, Julian German, held St Goran, Tregony and the Roseland.
He tells us housing, adult social care and fairer funding are the biggest challenges facing the newly-elected council, especially after the coronavirus pandemic.
"We want Cornwall to recover absolutely fantastically and as well as it can but with funding cuts, such as the public health budget being less now than it was four years ago, those funding issues are going to be really challenging. That's why we need fairer funding for Cornwall.
"If we had the same level of funding as Camden does, Cornwall Council would be receiving more than a £120 million more and just think what we could do for the residents of Cornwall with that resource. So, fairer funding's a key issue".
