Dashcam footage appeal after a serious injury crash on A30 in Cornwall

Police are appealing for dashcam footage after a serious injury crash on the A30 in north Cornwall.

One person was airlifted to Derriford on Tuesday afternoon after two cars hit near Colliford Lake.

Two others were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Firefighters from Bodmin and Launceston were also scrambled, along with Highways England.

The road was closed into the evening.

Officers from Devon & Cornwall Police want to hear from anyone who saw something just before 1.30pm, especially those with dashcam footage.

Police said: "At 1319hrs on the 6th July 2021 police were notified of a two vehicle road traffic collision on the A30 westbound carriageway near Colliford Lake.

"Initial reports claimed two vehicles were involved, the driver of one being trapped and other occupants, including a child, having extracted themselves.

"A saloon car and a 4x4 had come into contact for reasons yet to be determined.

"Medical treatment was administered soon after the incident by a number of persons, including members of the public and emergency service personnel.

"The most seriously injured was conveyed to Derriford Hospital, Plymouth by air ambulance with a further two persons being conveyed by land ambulances.

Devon & Cornwall Police

Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service said: "We were called at 13:26 by police to reports of a road traffic collision involving two vehicles with at least one person trapped in a vehicle on its roof.

"One appliance and a rescue tender were mobilised from Bodmin Fire Station and one appliance and a wholetime station manager were mobilised from Launceston Fire Station.

"On arrival crews met with police and assessed the scene. They found three casualties on the roadside and confirmed one casualty was physically trapped inside a vehicle with potentially serious injuries.

"Crews waited for the arrival of paramedics and Cornwall Air Ambulance critical care staff to put together an extrication plan to safely remove the casualty from the vehicle.

"At 14:49 crews confirmed the casualty was successfully extricated from the vehicle and transferred to the Cornwall Air Ambulance and on to the Major Trauma Centre at Derriford Hospital.

"During the incident Highways England assisted emergency services with road closures and putting a diversion in place".
