Cyclist suffers life-threatening injuries after crash near Chiverton Cross

Anyone who saw what happened on the A390 is asked to contact police

A cyclist has suffered life-threatening injuries after a serious crash on the A390 near Truro.

A bicycle and a car were caught in a collision near Chiverton Cross roundabout on Monday afternoon.

The 51-year-old cyclist remains in hospital and the driver of the car, a 22-year-old woman, is assisting police with their investigation.

Anyone who saw what happened at around 3.30pm, or who has dashcam footage, is asked to contact officers.

"At around 1528 hours on Monday 12th October 2020 Police were informed about a road traffic collision involving a black Ford Fiesta and a cyclist on the A390 near Chiverton Cross roundabout.

"As a result of the collision a 51 year old male cyclist has sustained life threatening injuries, he is currently being treated in a Cornwall hospital.

"The driver of the Ford Fiesta a 22 year old local female stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their investigation.

"Officers from the Alliance Roads Policing Team attended the collision to investigate and establish how the collision occurred."
