Cyclist left in intensive care after crash near Helston

After a driver left the scene of a crash near Helston a cyclist is now in intensive care.

Police were called to reports of a road traffic collision on the A394 between Helston and Falmouth, soon after 7am on Tuesday (20th April).

The incident involved a cyclist and an unknown vehicle near to the Retanna Holiday Park just past Trewannack in Helston.

The cyclist was taken to hospital by ambulance and is currently in intensive care, being treated for a punctured lung, as well as rib and shoulder injuries.

It is believed the collision could have involved a high-sided vehicle, which could have been a large van or HGV.

The driver of the vehicle left the scene and police enquiries are continuing.
