Serious crash on Cornwall's A39 leaves driver with potentially life-threatening injuries

Police have released more details after a serious crash on the A39 in north Cornwall.

One driver suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after two cars collided on the Wadebridge Bypass.

Another driver and three children were also taken to hospital after it happened at around 8.40am on Friday morning (14th May).

Paramedics and firefighters were also scrambled and the road was closed for around eight hours.

Anyone who saw something or who may have dashcam footage is being urged to contact Devon and Cornwall Police.

"At approximately 0838hrs on Friday 14th May, police were informed of a road traffic collision on the A39 Wadebridge Bypass, Wadebridge, involving a black Jeep Renegade and a Renault Scenic.

"The driver from the Jeep, along with the driver and 3 children from the Renault, were taken to Treliske Hospital by ambulance.

"The injuries of the driver of the Jeep were later described as potentially life threatening.

"Officers from the Devon and Cornwall’s Alliance Roads Policing Team and officers from Wadebridge attended, along with a Forensic Collision Investigator and Scene of Crime Officer and a full investigation of the scene took place.

"Police would like to thank the public for their patience while they investigated the scene.

"Police are appealing for any witnesses to this collision and who may have dash cam footage to telephone 101 quoting Log 153 14/05/2021".
