Cow rescued from muddy bog near the A30 in Cornwall

Firefighters wearing drysuits went into the bog to help get the animal free

A cow has been rescued after getting stuck in a muddy bog near the A30 in Cornwall.

Firefighters from Bodmin and Tolvaddon were called to the scene at Temple at around 10.35am on Tuesday morning.

Crews in drysuits went into the bog to help get the animal free.

They say it has been brought back to safety but is still unsteady on its feet.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Our Critical Control Centre were alerted to a cow stuck in a bog near to the A30 at Temple this morning.

"A crew from Bodmin Fire Station, with specialist appliances also coming from Bodmin and Tolvaddon Fire Station were immediately mobilised."

At 11.45am they added: "Firefighters wearing drysuits have entered the bog to attach animal rescue strops to the cow. Once these have been attached and fitted safely, the extrication of the animal will begin."

And at 12.30pm they said: "The cow has now been rescued from the bog. Crews are working to move the cow to drier ground. The cow is eating and drinking however is still unsteady on its feet."
