Number of coronavirus patients in Cornwall's hospitals is falling

Official figures show there were 50 last week - down from 88

The number of people with coronavirus being cared for in hospitals across Cornwall has fallen.

NHS England data shows there were 50 Covid patients last week.

The Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust was caring for 34 coronavirus patients in hospital as of Tuesday, February 23rd.

That was down from 60 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 62% in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 89.

The figures also show that 23 new Covid patients were admitted to hospital in Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust in the week to February 21. This was down from 42 in the previous seven days.

Meantime the Cornwall Partnership Trust was caring for 16 coronavirus patients in hospital last week.

That figure was down from 28 on the same day the previous week.

The number of beds at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust occupied by people who tested positive for Covid-19 decreased by 70% in the last four weeks – 28 days ago, there were 54.

The figures also show that one new Covid patient was admitted to hospital in Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in the week to February 21. This was down from 12 in the previous seven days.

Across England there were 13,511 people in hospital with Covid as of February 23, with 1,956 of them in mechanical ventilation beds.

The number of Covid-19 patients hospitalised nationally has decreased by 58% in the last four weeks, while the number on mechanical ventilators has decreased by 46%.
