49 new cases of coronavirus were recorded in Cornwall over the Easter weekend
It brings the total number of positive tests here to over 14,100
The number of recorded coronavirus cases in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly increased by 49 over the bank holiday weekend, official figures show.
Public Health England figures show that 14,117 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Tuesday (April 6) in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, up from 14,068 the same time on Thursday.
The health body is now including Pillar 2 tests – those carried out by commercial partners – alongside Pillar 1 tests, which are analysed in NHS or PHE laboratories and which made up the first stage of the Government's mass testing programme.
The rate of infection in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly now stands at 2,469 cases per 100,000 people, far lower than the England average of 6,780.
Across the UK, the number of recorded cases increased by 7,748 over the period, to 4,364,529.
Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly's cases were among the 219,112 recorded across the South West, a figure which rose by 561 over the period.
Cumulative case counts include patients who are currently unwell, have recovered and those that have died.
