Cornwall tops list of summer 'staycation' spots for the second year running
Parkdean Resorts has revealed its most searched-for destinations for 2022

A new Staycation Report for 2021 looking into how the UK has adapted to the new ways of travelling post Covid-19 has been published and Cornwall has topped the list.
As part of their research, Parkdean Resorts has discovered the top locations they expect to be most in-demand for staycations in 2022, by anaylsing a survey of 2,500 Brits and internal data for holiday searches.
Last year, Parkdean conducted the same research in the 2020 Staycation Report and found that Cornwall and Devon were the top staycation spots for summer 2020.
However, this year’s research found that although Cornwall stayed in the top spot, Devon has lost its title to more northern destinations such as Yorkshire and Lancashire.
Parkdean says: "As there continues to be uncertainty around international travel with new rules and regulations still being introduced, staycations are set to increase in popularity in 2022 as it remains a more reliable holiday options for Brits wanting to get away".
Cornwall
Cornwall remains in the top spot as the most in-demand staycation destination for 2022 with 15% of people surveyed choosing to spend their 2021 and 2022 holidays in the South West, in a location such as Cornwall. Not only that but Parkdean found that an impressive 66% of searches for 2022 holidays attributed to this location.
With scenic beaches to explore and a whole host of activities from surfing to arcades, it’s no surprise that Cornwall has secured its title for yet another year.
Yorkshire and the Humber
According to the survey data, Yorkshire and the Humber is the next most in-demand staycation spot for summer 2022 as 8% of people surveyed would choose to holiday in the British destination. Parkdean's internal research also found that there was a 57% increase in searches for 2022 holidays to Yorkshire.
Yorkshire is home to stunning national parks such as the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors and is a great place to explore in the sunnier months.
East of England
The East of England is the next most in-demand destination for summer 2022 staycations as 7% of people surveyed would choose to spend their holidays in this location.
The East of England offers stunning beaches such as Great Yarmouth and Cromer making it a great location for Brits to spend their summer holidays.
London
A non-conventional approach to staycation-ing, London is the next most in-demand holiday destination for summer 2022, as 7% of people surveyed would choose to visit the UK's capital.
With plenty of sight-seeing opportunities, London is the perfect getaway for Brits looking for a lively and jam-packed holiday.
North West
The North West of England is the next most in-demand staycation spot for summer 2022, with 6% of those surveyed choosing this location as their holiday destination for 2021 and 2022. Not only that but Parkdean's internal research found that Lancashire and the Lake District experienced the second highest increase in holiday searches for 2022 at 60%.
South East
And finally, the South East, including locations such as Brighton was the next most in-demand staycation spot with 6% of those surveyed choosing to holiday here in 2021 and 2022.
