Summer holidays will be worth around £1billion to Cornwall's economy
But Visit Cornwall is working on a strategy to spread tourism across the year
It has been revealed that this year's summer holidays will be worth around £1billion to Cornwall's economy.
The Duchy's braced for its busiest ever season with a spike in staycations due to the current restrictions on foreign travel.
Visitors are being urged to plan and book ahead, for accommodation and attractions, as demand skyrockets.
But tourism bosses in the Duchy are working on a strategy to try and help spread tourism across the year and take the peak out of summer.
Malcolm Bell from Visit Cornwall says that would help make Cornwall a more 'comfortable' place for locals and tourists during the summer holidays.
"We're developing a strategy that, hopefully if we get the right backing, means we will go to all year round tourism and even look at how we take the peak out of summer. We all know that it's getting very tight in terms of being a comfortable place to be, not only for the visitors but more importantly for the local communities.
"Summer is worth just under one billion pounds, the summer break. That is not just the hoteliers, 19% of that goes to the high street, over 25% goes to those in the food and drinks sector, and there are other elements of spend that weave through our economy."

There are still concerns about the spread of coronavirus as more people flock to the Duchy.
Malcolm added:"Take your time, be patient, be respectful, be understanding, we are able to have a summer this year but coronavirus isn't taking a break, isn't having a holiday, and is just waiting for you if you let your guard down. So be careful, be safe and enjoy Cornwall."
