Flood warnings in place as heavy rain hits Cornwall

Water levels in parts of the River Cober and Hayle are expected to continue to rise on Wednesday afternoon

There's warnings of flooding and travel disruption across Cornwall on Wednesday.

It comes as heavy rain lashes down across the Duchy, with a Met Office yellow weather warning in place until midday.

Two flood warnings are in force along the River Cober in Trenear, and on the River Hayle between Relubbus to St Erth.

The Environment Agency say river levels are expected to peak on Wednesday afternoon, and that nearby properties and low-lying areas will flood immediately.

They' are also warning that flood waters could be deep and fast-flowing.

People living nearby are being urged to protect their properties and avoid driving through floodwater.

There's also travel disruption in Cornwall, with sailings on the St Mawes Ferry on hold until at least 1pm due to strong winds.
