Cornish pub fined after 'selfish' men seen drinking inside during lockdown
The unnamed venue has been ordered to pay £1,000 following a breach in coronavirus restrictions
A pub in Cornwall has been fined £1,000 following a breach in lockdown restrictions.
Cornwall Council says a group of men were spotted inside - drinking and listening to music.
Under the current rules, all hospitality venues have to remain closed, with the exception of food takeaways.
The unnamed venue is among nine businesses the council has taken action against during the pandemic.
Officials have described the individuals involved as 'selfish'
"Lockdown is not over yet. In order for the current restrictions to be eased we must all do our bit to help bring case numbers down.
"These selfish individuals clearly knew they were breaking the rules and there is no excuse.
"We have worked with thousands of businesses across Cornwall to help them understand and implement the national restrictions.
"Now is not the time to be complacent and we will not hesitate to take action against those who disregard the law".
Councillor Rob Nolan, Environment and Public Protection
The pub in question has 14 days to appeal the fixed penalty notice.
