Cornwall Pride is calling on the G7 leaders to lead the way when it comes to human rights.

11 leaders from 11 regions across the globe will come together at the G7 in Carbis Bay next week, taking action on climate change and the impact of the pandemic.

But Cornwall Pride is asking the economic global leaders to lead on human rights first, by creating and adopting their own Human Right Convention.

They also want to see that the recommendation is made that all global leaders who attend the G7, must adopt this.

You can find their #Humanity1st campaign here.

"The world and its leaders must do better at protecting; Women’s Rights, Race, Gender Equality, Sexual Orientation, Younger and Older Persons, Disability, Gender Recognition, Marriage and Civil Partnership, Pregnancy and Maternity, Religion or Belief, People in Poverty & Health."

In support of the campaign, two Pride organisers have been running over 330 miles around the entire Cornish coast path.

They have completed over 31,700ft elevation ( higher than Mount Everest and back down) across 11 events.

To highlight the importance of true equality across the globe, the Pride runners have been joined by members of our marginalised and diverse communities at various stages of the run.

Starting and finishing next to the UK G7 summit location Carbis Bay, the final leg of the run is taking place today (Sunday 6th June).

"This is our opportunity to come together and ask the leaders of the world to lead on Human Rights and make a difference to everyone.

"With even more support than we could ever of imagined, a huge thank you to Kernow Matters To Us, Black Voices Cornwall, UK Pride Organisers Network, Inter Pride (World Pride Organisers Network), The CHAOS Group, Peter Thatchel Foundation, The Speedo Mick Foundation. ”
