Exactly a year ago today (5th March), the first case of coronavirus was confirmed in Cornwall.

Since the 5th March 2020, more than 13,500 people in the Duchy have caught Covid.

As of the end of February 2021, 449 patients had died since the pandemic began.

Over half of those were in hospitals across the Duchy.

Mental health nurse Stevie is also the Deputy Sister on Treliske's Kerensa Ward, which cares for the elderly.

She has shared a recording of her moving poem 'Numbers', urging us not to break lockdown restrictions.

Dozens of people have commented on the video post, shared by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals' Trust on its Facebook page.

Karen wrote: "Just looking at your eyes, tells a sad tale. Very heartfelt words".

Sharon commented: "Unfortunately so true Stevie & let’s hope that this will make people think more seriously about this evil virus".

Dawn said "made me cry", while friend Charlotte posted: "This only scratches the surface as to why you're one of my favorite humans!"

It comes as the vaccine rollout the south-west reaches a major milestone.

Over two million people across the region have now received a coronavirus vaccine and that includes more than 228,000 doses in Cornwall alone.
