Groups and organisations across Cornwall can now apply for funding to help carry out infrastructure projects designed to connect communities.

Funding is available through Cornwall Council’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) Fund which supports community groups, town and parish councils, and not-for-profit organisations in the area.

Grants range from £20,000 to £100,000.

Sarah Preece, Cornwall Council cabinet member for tourism, localism, and planning, said: “We want to support projects that bring communities together.

"This could mean improving community spaces so more people can enjoy them, or creating better links between places so it’s easier to get around and feel connected.

"For example, adding or upgrading footpaths, and improving local areas for play, learning, and activities.”

Since the first CIL Fund round launched in 2020, over £5.8m has been awarded to 87 projects across Cornwall, including accessible pathways, cycle routes, and upgrades to youth centres, schools, football pitches, and play parks.

The funding for the CIL Fund comes from the Community Infrastructure Levy, a charge applied to developers to offset the impact of their projects.

To apply for funding, groups need to submit an Expression of Interest by 27th February 2024. Selected proposals will then be invited to complete a full application.
