A 'pirate punk and folk' band from Cornwall are set to play at their first ever Glastonbury, as the festival returns for the first time since the pandemic.

The JollyRoger will be playing on one of the smaller stages at the festival, which has headline acts from Sir Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish and Kendrick Lamar across the weekend.

The band, who describe themselves as a 'High Energy Celtic Folk Rock' three-piece have told us it has always been their dream to play at the festival.

Singer Kynan Sandles told our Glastonbury reporter: "This festival is my favourite place on the planet".

He added: "Three years ago, (my bandmate) Samantha asked me what I wanted to do and I said I wanted to play Glastonbury Festival so she made a poster with our band name on a line up poster to sit in our room and we looked at it every day and now it's happened".

The gates for Glastonbury 2022 opened on Wednesday, after being cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But this year hundreds of thousands of people are expected to descend on Worthy Farm, to enjoy acts, art and entertainment.

JollyRoger singer Samantha Hannah said: "I'm really really excited to be here for our first ever Glastonbury and playing on stage".

She added: "It's something we really wanted to do as a band. We're here, it's amazing and it's happened".
