The Cornish Pirates will aim to extend their winning streak to four games as they take on Cambridge at Mennaye Field in Penzance today - with kick-off at the earlier time of 1pm.

Currently 6th in the league, the Pirates enter this fixture in strong form, while their winless opponents sit at the bottom of the table in 14th place. Despite their favourable position, home coach Joe Walsh confirmed they are not taking anything for granted.

“Another victory is though anything but guaranteed, as Cambridge turned us over at their place last season, plus we know they’ll be carrying a bit of hurt from the last couple of rounds, which could make them difficult opponents," Walsh said.

Key changes have been made to the team ahead of Saturday’s match, with several players stepping in due to injuries. Harry Yates replaces Chester Ribbons in the centre, Ben Cambriani takes Arthur Relton’s position on the wing, and Louie Sinclair will make his first start at fly-half following an injury to Arwel Robson last week.

In the forward pack, James French replaces Alfie Petch at prop. On the bench, two new faces could make their debut for the Pirates: Zack Wimbush, who is dual-registered with Exeter Chiefs, and Angus Mawson, a recent Australian signing.

Pirates coach Walsh highlighted the team's key focus areas:

“Our line-out, which is something we have worked on, has been especially pleasing, while our defence has also come on well, as has our kick game. With those strengths, and by continuing to add elsewhere where needed, it will help give us a sound all-round game,” Walsh added.
