A Cornish foodbank has revealed that it invited Boris Johnson to come and visit during the summit.

Don Gardner, who runs the centre in Camborne, Pool and Redruth, wanted the Prime Minister to witness the deprivation in the local area.

But he never had a reply.

Seven tonnes of leftover food from police and security staff was donated to the branch following the world leaders' event.

The centre was given boxes full of breakfast bags, containing the likes of baps, yoghurts, cereal bars, fruit and drinks which were leftover by the thousands of extra officers.

The supplies have now been dished out to local schools in the area along with a homeless shelter.

The branch is currently giving out around 10,000 meals a month and they are predicting another spike over the summer months.

"We're looking at probably August or September time, there will be a bigger rise.

"People who are struggling, they have been on 60% furlough, quite a few of them won't get a job when they go back, the jobs will be gone, and it's going to cause a big unemployment problem I believe.

"We are gearing up because people are running up debts, there's an amnesty on rent arrears that has been taken away now, from people that are renting properties, and we can see problems there coming our way."
