Cornish disaster relief charity 'on standby' as typhoon hits The Philippines
ShelterBox already has a team on the ground and says it is ready to send aid if needed

A Cornish disaster relief charity says it is on standby, as a 'Super Typhoon' tears through The Philippines.
Truro-based ShelterBox has a team based there and the organisation says it is ready to send emergency aid if needed.
Head of Emergency Responses at ShelterBox, Alice Jefferson said: "Typhoon Noru is currently forcing its way through island communities in the Philippines.
"Local people are no strangers to fierce storms, but that doesn't take away the fear as they desperately try to get themselves and their families out of its path or find somewhere safe to stay.
“Our in-country team is watching very carefully as this storm unfolds to find out the extent of the damage it leaves behind and we have emergency shelter materials prepositioned in Cebu should we need them.
"ShelterBox has responded in the Philippines dozens of times before. That includes in the aftermath of Typhoon Rai earlier this year - and we can again if needed".
ShelterBox says more than half a million people were left homeless when Typhoon Rai hit.
