Concerns amid report of man entering the sea fully clothed in Bude

Police say searches were carried out but nobody was found

There are concerns for man who was reportedly seen entering the sea fully clothed in Cornwall.

Emergency services were called to Summerleaze beach in Bude on Wednesday evening.

The coastguard, RNLI, officers and fire service carried out searches but no one was found.

Police say they would like to know if he was seen getting out safely or if there are reports of anyone having gone missing.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact officers.

"At approximately 6:20 pm this evening Devon and Cornwall Police were called to Summerleaze Beach in Bude after a report of a male being seen to enter the water fully clothed.

"Police co-ordinated a detailed search involving the Fire and Rescue service, the Coastguard and the RNLI but have yet to locate and identify the male.

"Police are asking anyone who saw this male who is believed to be approximately 40 years old and about 6’0 tall, wearing black wellington boots and a 3/4 length overcoat in or around the Summerleaze Beach area to make contact on 101 quoting police reference 686 of 28/10/2020."
