Cocaine package worth £100k found on Cornish beach
It was discovered by a beach cleaner at Upton Beach in Bude on Monday
A package containing what's thought to be around £100,000 worth of cocaine has been found on a beach in Cornwall.
It was discovered on Upton Beach in Bude yesterday by Jodie Harper, who does regular beach cleans with the 2 Minute Foundation charity.
Jodie tells us she didn't initially realise what she'd found.
"My first immediate thought was that it's a parcel that someone's put in the post gone astray, but as soon as we picked it up and looked a bit closer immediately realised that it was something suspicious, because it looked just like something you'd see in a film
"As soon as we realised what it was, we detoured via the police station on the way home. They've packaged it in an evidence bag, and they assume a value of about £100,000"
"Please pop into the nearest police station"
A Police spokesperson said: “A member of public attended Bude Police station early yesterday afternoon (Monday 7 August) after finding a packaged on Upton beach, believed to be around 1kg of cocaine.
“Officers undertook searches of the surrounding beaches but no further packages were located.
“If anyone believes that these drugs belongs to them and wishes to be reunited with the package, then please pop in to the nearest police station and make yourselves known to officers; we will do our best to assist you.”
