Police have released an update about charges following an incident in Newquay over the weekend.

Officers were called to reports of an altercation on Tower Road on Saturday.

A casualty in his 40s suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Two people, aged 20 and 17, were arrested on suspicion of assault.

It has now been confirmed that Kyle Ollivierre, aged 20, of no fixed abode, Newquay, has been charged with Section 18 wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

He appeared before Truro Magistrates' Court on Monday 2nd May and was remanded in custody. He is now due before Truro Crown Court on 31st May.

Police say no further action will be taken against a 17-year-old boy in relation to the alleged assault.

But he has been charged with possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and three counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker.

He was also due to appear before Truro Magistrates' Court on Monday 2nd May.
