Police issue CCTV appeal after a robbery at a shop in Newquay
Officers want to speak to the two men pictured in connection with the incident at a Spar
Police investigating a robbery at a shop in Newquay have released CCTV footage as part of an appeal.
Officers were called to the Spar on Chester Road on Monday night, after reports of staff being threatened by a man carrying a screwdriver.
He is believed to have told workers to open the tills, before taking cash and cigarettes.
A second man, who was stood nearby, is said to have been in possession of a pickaxe.
Devon and Cornwall Police say both men left the store in the direction of St Anne's Road.
They have released images of two men they want to identify and speak to in connection with what happened.
Anyone with any information that could help with enquiries is being asked to contact police on 101.
"Police are appealing for witnesses and information following reports of a robbery in Newquay.
"Officers were called shortly after 9.40pm on Monday 6th December to the Spar store on Chester Road following reports that two men had entered the store in possession of weapons and made threats of violence to the staff.
"It was reported that one of the men, who was carrying a screwdriver, told the staff to open the tills and took a quantity of cash and cigarettes which were put into a light-coloured plastic bag.
"The second man was believed to be standing nearby in possession of a pickaxe.
"Both men left the area on foot and turned left out of the store in the direction of St Anne’s Road.
"Officers continue to carry out a number of enquiries.
"Police have released pictures of two men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident and are appealing for the public’s help to identify them.
"It is believed they may be able to assist with enquiries".
