The moment a cat was rescued from a ledge above a river in north Cornwall has been caught on camera.

Teams from Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service were called to the Polmorla near Wadebridge after Tashie got stuck.

Crews, wearing specialist dry suits, waded into the water on Monday, after using a ladder to climb down a steep bank.

Firefighters were able to lift Tashie to Safety and reunite him with his grateful owner.

They confirmed the pet was recovering from his ordeal at home with a 'belly full of chicken'.

Posting on Twitter on Monday night, Wadebridge Community Fire Station said: "At 15:55 we were mobilised to rescue 'Tashie' the cat from a ledge by the Polmorla River.

"Two firefighters in dry suits successfully rescued him and he was reunited with his owner.

"Tashie is currently safe and well at home with a tummy full of chicken!"

We do love a happy ending!
