One person has been airlifted to hospital after falling from cliffs at a Cornish beauty spot.

Land's End Coastguard Rescue Team says the casualty suffered 'multiple injuries' near the Minack Theatre.

They were evacuated by stretcher yesterday lunchtime (Monday 3rd May), before being flown to hospital for treatment.

Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team, paramedics and Cornwall Air Ambulance were also scrambled.

"We were tasked today at 12:32 to reports that a person had fallen from the cliff near the Minack Theatre and sustained multiple injuries.

"We made the area safe with our rope equipment and once the casualty was stabilised by South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust and Cornwall Air Ambulance, we evacuated by stretcher, with support from Penzance Coastguard Rescue Team, to Porthcurno where he was transferred by ambulance to a waiting helicopter and by air to hospital for further treatment.

"Remember if you see someone in difficulty near the coast call 999 and ask for the Coastguard".
