Car swept off slipway into sea at Cornish cove

Coastguards were called to Trevaunance Cove at St Agnes on Saturday morning, but luckily no-one was inside!

A warning is going out to drivers after a car was almost washed out to sea in Cornwall.

Photos show the vehicle being caught by the incoming tide at St Agnes and swept off the slipway.

Rescuers were called to Trevaunance Cove on Saturday morning.

St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team shared these photos, taken by the RNLI's Peter Banner, saying that luckily no-one was inside!

St Agnes Coastguard Search & Rescue Team posted on Facebook: "Tasked to a report of a car in the sea at Trevaunance Cove.

"Our attendance was requested to determine the safety of the owner/occupants.

"Once on scene it was quickly established all persons were safe and accounted for.

"Team stood down and returned to station".

Locals commented on the post to say that the vehicle was later recovered by tow-truck, but had to be dug out first.
