Police have issued an appeal after a car was struck by a wheel bouncing in the road on the A38 at Bodmin.

Officers say the alloy was embossed with the word 'JEEP' and they think it could have come off the back of a moving vehicle.

A Blue Citroen was hit between Turfdown roundabout and Carminow Cross, heading in the direction of the rugby club.

Devon and Cornwall Police are asking for help to identify the vehicle the wheel came from and speak to the driver.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, that happened at around 7.15pm, is being urged to contact police on 101.

Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who might have relevant dashcam footage.

The force said: "Police are appealing for witnesses following a collision on the A38 at Bodmin between Turfdown roundabout and Carminow Cross.

"At around 7.15pm on Tuesday 7th December, a blue Citroen DS3 was travelling in the direction of Bodmin near the rugby club when it was struck by a wheel that was bouncing in the road.

"The wheel was embossed with ‘JEEP’ in the centre of the Alloy and it is suspected the wheel had come off the back of a moving vehicle.

"Officers are appealing for anyone witnesses the incident and anyone with relevant dashcam footage to get in touch.

"Officers are keen to identify the vehicle that the wheel has come from and to speak to the driver".

Anyone with information which may assist the investigation is asked to contact police on 101 quoting log 655 07/12/21.
