Man suffers life-threatening injures after car overturns in Cornish village

It happened in the early hours and police say enquiries are ongoing

A man has suffered life-threatening injuries after a car overturned in a Cornish village.

Police were called to Chacewater at around 2.40am on Thursday morning amid reports of a vehicle on its roof.

A man in his 40s was taken to hospital and officers say enquiries are ongoing at the scene.

"Police were called at 2.40am today to Chacewater Hill, Truro, following reports of a vehicle located on its roof.

"A man in his 40s has been taken to hospital with potentially serious injuries.

"The road remains closed at this time and enquiries are ongoing at the scene."

Devon and Cornwall Police

Officers have since confirmed that the man has life-threatening injures and remains in hospital.

The road was closed for hours and was affecting anyone travelling between Scorrier and Threemilestone.

"Chacewater Hill in both directions closed due to overturned car from Kerley Hill to the Bissoe turn-off.

"Affecting traffic between Scorrier and Threemilestone."
