The number of coronavirus cases in Cornwall increased by 457 in the last 24 hours, official figures show – and two more deaths were recorded.
A total of 52,917 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 in Cornwall when the UK coronavirus daily dashboard was updated on October 20th (Wednesday), up from 52,460 on Tuesday.
Latest weekly figures show the Duchy recorded 3,174 new cases in the seven days to last Thursday, giving us a case rate of 551.5 per 100,000 people.
Some areas have almost double the overall case rate for Cornwall, at 1,137.6 in Bodmin West and 1,075.4 in Camborne West.
It comes as the British Medical Association accuses the government of "wilful negligence" for refusing to implement its coronavirus 'Plan B' immediately.
Cornwall Council's Public Health Team has warned people that Covid has not gone away and residents and visitors are being urged to remain vigilant.
There were also two more coronavirus deaths recorded in the latest 24-hour period in Cornwall.
The dashboard shows 548 people had died in the area by October 20 (Wednesday) – up from 546 on Tuesday.
It means there have been seven deaths in the past week, which is an increase on four the previous week.
They were among 7,520 deaths recorded across the South West.
The figures include anyone who died within 28 days of a positive test result for Covid-19, and whose usual residence was in Cornwall.
Daily death counts are revised each day, with each case backdated to the actual date of death.
The figures also show that more than three-quarters of people in Cornwall have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.
The latest figures show 415,416 people had received both jabs by October 19 (Tuesday) – 78% of those aged 12 and over, based on the number of people on the National Immunisation Management Service database.
Across England, 79% of people aged 12 and above had received a second dose of the jab.
Unlike at local level, the national rate was calculated using mid-2020 population estimates from the Office for National Statistics.
