A Cornish taxi company is offering 'cabs for jabs' to help locals get to their coronavirus vaccinations.

Star Cars in St Austell has started a fundraising page so they can get elderly and vulnerable people to and from their appointments for free.

The firm has already raised £300 and is aiming to reach a target of £1,000 so they can continue to support locals in getting their Covid jabs.

"We're all in the same boat and we're all struggling, so it's just a way of trying to keep our community safe.

"It's the only way we're going to beat this virus, if we're all vaccinated, it's the only way we're going to get rid of it.

"It is a good idea for the local communities to get involved and help each other out, we're in the community and we're out and about all the time, so it is a safe environment for people to get to and from their vaccinations."

The Go Fund Me page reads:

"We're trying to fund free cab rides for those people in our community (St Austell and surrounding areas) who need help getting to and from their Covid Vaccine appointment.

"We are a small company based in St Austell wanting to raise funds to help out the elderly and vulnerable receive a free taxi to have there COVID 19 vaccination.

"With the help of kind and generous local people we aim to provide free taxi rides to as many people who need a lift as possible.

"We are hoping that it will ease the minds of the passenger taking the stress of finding the money to pay to get their vaccination.

"You can also help by letting your parents, grandparents, great grandparents and anyone else who lives in and around St Austell and needs a lift know that they can use this service for free (funds dependent) to get to the vaccination centre for their Covid vaccination appointment."
