Businesses in Mylor Bridge says they are open as usual despite ongoing roadworks.

Closures have been in place on Lemon Hill since 10 June and will remain in operation until 5th July. It's in place between the bridge and Trevellan Road.

Bus services have also been impacted.

Jonny Pearce, landlord of the Lemon Arms, told us:

"You miss a certain number of customers at a time of year when you really want as many customers as you want through the door. There's nobody driving past the pub so nobody is going to be coming in because they get to the sign which says 'road is closed' and turn around.

"As well as the loss of trade, it's the little things like trying to get your bins collected, staff trying to get to work. We have a lot of students who come in by bus who now get dropped off the other side and are late to work because of that.

His advice for people visiting is that business is "open as usual" and drivers should "plan ahead" and "give plenty of time".

Jonny added: "You can still get to the beaches and the harbour, just give yourself an extra 10 minutes or so."

James Durrant, Mylor Butchers, said:

"It hasn't affected us, we are still open as normal and are normally pretty busy. Hearing from other businesses, it has affected them and they aren't as busy.

"I'm not sure how it's going to be when it's all finished. We have seen the carnage on Saturday with a queue of traffic, it's not great."

On the council website, it says there will be closures on Lemon Hill between the 10 June and the 5 July.

During the closure period OTS service 69 will be unable to serve stops at Springfield Park and at the Lemon Arms. Please confirm diversion details with the operator. School buses will have access through the closure and will operate their normal routes.

We have contacted the council for their response.
