CCTV appeal after £24,000 worth of jewellery snatched in burglary in Lostwithiel

Police think a chainsaw was used to break into a business on Fore Street

Police investigating a burglary in Lostwithiel believe a chainsaw was used to break in and have issued an appeal for CCTV and dashcam footage.

More than £24,000 of jewellery was snatched from the business on Fore Street in November.

Officers believe the suspect was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a balaclava during the incident in November.

They say the person believed to have been responsible fled the scene on an electric scooter.

It happened in the early hours of Tuesday 30th and witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage are being urged to come forward.

In a statement, Devon and Cornwall Police said: "Officers were called to reports of a burglary between 2am and 3am, on Tuesday 30th November, in which a large quantity of jewellery, valued at more than £24,000, was stolen.

"The suspect is believed to have been dressed in dark clothing and was wearing a balaclava and used a chainsaw to force entry into the premises.

"The chainsaw has since been recovered.

"The suspect is believed to have left the scene on an electric scooter".

Detective Constable Emma Sandry added: “I would be keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard anything in the early hours of Tuesday 30th November or has any CCTV that covers Fore Street or neighbouring streets".
