Police car rammed following burglary at supermarket in Falmouth

It is believed that two men stole cigarettes from the Co-op

A police car has been rammed following a burglary at a shop in Falmouth.

Officers say two men are believed to have swiped cigarettes from the Co-op on Mongleath Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A car with the suspects inside rammed a police vehicle before they made off on foot.

No one is thought to have been injured.

Police say a 24-year-old man from Liverpool was arrested.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area is being asked to contact officers.

"Police are investigating a burglary at the Co-operative supermarket on Mongleath Road, Falmouth, at 3.50am yesterday morning, Sunday 25th April.

"Two males are believed to have broken into the shop and stolen cigarettes.

"A car with the suspects inside rammed a police car before the suspects made off on foot. No police officers were harmed and the suspects are believed to be unharmed.

"A 24-year-old man from Liverpool was subsequently arrested on suspicion of burglary and is in police custody this morning."
