It has emerged Boris Johnson also visited Treliske during his recent trip to Cornwall.

The Prime Minister spent an afternoon meeting businesses in Truro, ahead of the easing of more lockdown restrictions.

He had also been given a tour of Cornwall Airport Newquay on 7th April, to see the upgrades happening ahead of the G7 Summit.

However, posting on his own Twitter feed, Mr Johnson described meeting doctors and nurses at the Royal Cornwall Hospital.

He said: "Last night in Truro I saw the outstanding work of doctors and nurses at the Royal Cornwall Hospital. Thank you to the entire team and the whole of our NHS".

Boris Johnson's visit to Cornwall coincided with the announcement of a £23 million deal for Truro.

The Prime Minister said the money would boost the local economy and create jobs and new homes.

He added that the investment would help Cornwall to 'build back better' from the pandemic.

"We are determined to level up across the entire country, and the Deal we’re announcing for Truro will help to unleash its tremendous potential.

"Through a range of innovative projects including greener transport links and the restoration and renewal of spaces in the city centre, we will be able to rejuvenate the local economy, support businesses, boost connectivity and create new jobs."
