Body found on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula in search for missing woman

Police searching for a missing woman from the Helston area have found a body on Cornwall's Lizard Peninsula.
The tragic discovery was made at Porthallow Beach on Monday morning (26th September) as emergency services scoured the area.
Devon & Cornwall Police were initially called after a woman in her 60s was reported missing and concerns were raised for her welfare.
Several Coastguard Rescue Teams and the RNLI are understood to have been involved in the search operation.
Paramedics, Cornwall Air Ambulance and Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service are also believed to have been in attendance.
Statement from Devon & Cornwall Police
A force spokesperson said: "Police were called in the early hours of yesterday morning (Monday 26th September) following concern for the welfare of a woman in her 60s who was missing from her home address in the Helston area.
"Police searches led officers to Porthallow Beach and localised searches have taken place, along with support from HM Coastguard and the RNLI.
"Sadly, at around 10am yesterday morning, a body was found in the water and, shortly after, declared deceased.
"This death is not being treated as suspicious and next of kin have been made aware of this development.
"A file is to be prepared for the coroner".
Porthallow Beach was closed on Monday but has since reopened.
