A player from Bodmin RFC - and other members of his family - have been injured following an incident over the weekend near Tintagel Primary School in which all five people were hit by a car.

It happened on Sunday (August 27) on the B3263, with Devon and Cornwall Police saying they were called out at just before midnight to the incident.

South West Ambulance Service, Air Ambulance, and Devon and Cornwall Fire and Rescue also attended following the callout at 23:50 that night.

The five people injured were taken to hospital with injuries of varying severity - none are believed to be life threatening.

A fundraising page has now been set-up, and Ollie Brooks' club have shared their support as he and his family recover.

They say: "Most of you would have seen that our very own Ollie Brooks , his family and partners were unfortunately involved in an incident over the weekend which seen them hit by a vehicle.

"We are thankful they are all still with us and on the mend but the next few months are going to a challenge for the family while they all recover from their injury’s.

"The GoFund me page below has been set up to offer a little assistance in getting the family through the next few months and back on their feet. Please donate what you can!"

The driver of the car, a 22 year old man, was uninjured and arrested on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink or drugs.

He remains in police custody.

Police are continuing their investigations and are appealing for witnesses, particularly anyone with dashcam footage, to contact the Roads Policing Team, quoting log 1038 of 27 August 2023.
