Bleed control kit to be installed in Bodmin
It's in memory of 18-year-old Lucas Underwood who died after being stabbed in July last year
A bleed kit is being installed in Bodmin in a bid to prevent fatal knife crime.
The emergency bleed control kit will be placed at the BEAT in Bodmin in memory of 18-year-old Lucas Underwood who died after being stabbed on Sunday 23 July 2023.
Lucas sustained serious injuries during a fight outside a property in the early hours of the morning last year and was taken to Bodmin Hospital by a member of the public.
He later died of his injuries in the hospital car park.
The family of Lucas have fundraised to install the bleed control kit as a tribute to him.
Bleeding control kits are specialised trauma kits designed to provide bystanders with the products they need to stop life-threatening bleeding until paramedics arrive, with the aim to potentially save lives.
In a post on Tiktok, Lucas' sister Natalie Bartlett, said: "No-one should ever have to say goodbye to their son, sibling, uncle, grandson. My baby brother was the most caring, loving person and would do anything for anyone.
"I wanted to try and make a difference in the community and found Carl and Carly who have helped me get the first bleed kit to be installed in Bodmin.
"Please come and support our family, in memory of Lucas Clive David Underwood. We are fighting for justice for Lucas and knife crime awareness."
The bleed kit will be installed in Bodmin at 4pm on Saturday 6 April.
