A biker has ended up trapped under a car following a weekend crash near St Austell.

The man had to be freed by firefighters on the A391 at Higher Bugle on Sunday afternoon.

Crews say the air ambulance was also called, but the casualty escaped with minor injuries.

It is understood two vehicles were involved in the collision, which blocked the road in both directions.

In a statement, Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crew from St Austell and Bodmin attended a call to a road traffic accident where a motorcyclist was reported as trapped under a car.

"On the Fire Service's arrival, crews confirmed that one male was trapped under a car.

"Firefighters used spreaders with a jacking and packing technique to release the casualty.

"The motorcyclist was assessed on scene by Air Ambulance paramedics.

"The motorcyclist suffered minor injuries and was not airlifted to hospital".
