Young biker has life-threatening injuries after serious crash in west Cornwall

Police say a biker in his 20s has suffered life-threatening injuries after a serious crash near Porthleven.

The young man's motorbike and a car collided on the A394 at Breage on Tuesday night.

The casualty, who is local to the area, was rushed to Derriford Hospital where he remains in intensive care.

It happened at around 9pm and the road remains closed in both directions.

Inrix Traffic and Travel said: "The A394 in both directions closed due to accident investigation work from Higher Road (Breage) to B3304 (Porthleven). Traffic is coping well.

"The road has been closed since the early hours of Wednesday morning".

Devon and Cornwall Police are urging anyone who saw what happened, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward.

In a statement, the force said: "Police were called at around 9pm on Tuesday 1st March with reports of a collision involving a blue coloured Volvo V50 car and a red coloured Honda 125cc motorcycle on the A394 near Porthleven, Cornwall.

"The rider, a local man in his 20s sustained life-threatening injuries and remains in intensive care in Derriford Hospital.

"Specialist officers from the Roads Policing Unit attended the scene and commenced an investigation to establish the cause of the collision.

"The road was closed for some hours and police would like to thank the members of public for their patience and co-operation; some localised restrictions remain in place.

"Any witnesses who were in the area at the time of the collision who may have dashcam footage of the incident are asked to contact 101@dc.police.uk quoting log 803 1st March 2022".
