Police are searching for witness who helped a woman to escape from an assault in Truro.

Officers say she was pinned up against a wall and punched by a man in the Trelander Vean area.

It is reported to have happened just after 10pm on Tuesday 23rd March.

A man in his 40s was arrested and bailed.

Now police are looking for a man who saw what happened and intervened, which allowed the woman to get away.

Anyone with information is asked to contact officers.

"The police are looking for a witness who intervened when a woman was being assaulted by a man in Truro.

"Police responded to reports that a woman had been assaulted in Trelander Vean, Truro, on Tuesday 23rd March, soon after 10pm.

"The man pinned her against a wall and punched her.

"It is believed the pair are known to each other.

"A man in his 40s was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm and has been placed on police bail, pending further enquiries, until Wednesday 21st April.

"Officers would like to hear from a man who witnessed the incident and intervened, which allowed the woman to escape."
